Running up the river

On Saturday, Nancy and I went up to the Columbia River to enjoy the sunshine. I took the opportunity to go for an 8 mile run.

Nancy was in no mood for running, so instead she rode her Brompton alongside me and kept me from getting bored by providing conversation. We had a fantastic time, and followed it up by grilling hamburgers at home.

Birthday extravaganza

Nancy always organizes a weekend-long sequence of birthday activities for me. This time we started with breakfast with my family, followed by a walk through Distillery Row: Portland’s district packed with distilleries.

We had a great time tasting, among other things, baijiu, the traditional Chinese spirit. If I understood, that was the only place in America that produces it. Afterwards we ate at a food cart pod and called it a night.

On Sunday we had our annual video-games-with-friends-around-the-world event, which was also a lot of fun. We wrapped up the weekend with delicious Thai food with my parents.
